"MAD MEX – THE LEGEND OF JUAN GARCIA” - SYNOPSIS
In the same vein as such mocumentary classics as “SPINAL TAP”, “AND GOD SPOKE”, “WAITING FOR GUFFMAN”, and “BEST IN SHOW”, "MAD MEX” is the "Mocumentary" about Juan Tyrone Garcia. As legendary as Bruce Lee, and as famous as Elvis Presley, from 1975 to 1979 Garcia flashed through the Martial Arts and film communities like a lightening bolt, then suddenly and tragically, disappeared never to be heard from again.
This full length feature docu-drama will chronicle the life of this famous celebrity, starting with his surprising upbringing, not in the L.A. barrios as most people believe, but along the shores of Malibu, California. We will follow Juan's career from his meager beginnings as a second rate masked Mexican wrestler, note his early successes, and finally witness his rise to fame as "Mexico's biggest Superstar".
This program will investigate the rumors of Juan's father being famed musical performer and Godfather of Soul, James Brown. It will also show a side to Juan's charismatic personality that few people have ever been shown before. Was he a blindly inept, clueless fool, an idiot savant, as some believed? Or was Juan Garcia a truly brilliant, manipulative and subtle strategist who cleverly planned his assent to stardom, and in the end even staged his own disappearance?
We will meet the renowned Guerreo Brothers, the most ferocious fighting team ever to tour the Mexican wrestling circuit. We will see how Juan was taken in by these two legends and trained in the ancient Mexican Kung Fu fighting arts to become the battling marvel that he was.
Viewers will get a behind the scenes look at the five epic Martial Arts actions films that made Juan a superstar; "Breath of Death", "Six Deadly Fingers of Fury", "Pimp Madness", "Mad Mex", and of course, the Mega hit, "Kung Fu Star fighters".
This documentary will feature interviews with Juan's friends, co-workers, fans, and competitors, including such personalities as Chuck Norris, Richard Hatch, David Naughton, Hulk Hogan, Jane Seymour, Mel Gibson, The Rock, Cheech Marin, Fred “The Hammer” Williamson, and many others.
Through all the interviews, rare film footage, photos, and archived information we will finally learn the truth about the life, the loves, the career, the ambitions, the disappointments, the accomplishments, and of course, the tragic disappearance of Juan Tyrone Garcia, the most famous fighter that never was.
